The Criminal Justice II students visited the State Fair of Virginia and the Virginia State Police. The students arrive early to the fair to meet First Sgt. LeCroy of the Virginia State Police. First Sgt. LeCroy take the students on tour first of the VSP Command post which is used on the exterior part of the fair. The students sat in the exterior briefing. The students were able to listen what goes in the planning of traffic control and officer safety. The students then toured the interior command center (PSOC) and meet with a dispatcher. First Sgt. LeCroy had the students sit in another briefing for the interior of the fair. Students were assigned a trooper and had to shadow the troopers for two hours. The students also had to learn about their trooper and watch them how they engaged the public. Student did more walking then others and some meet a lot of park guests as they watched the main entrance. Students had a wet start but it cleared up near the end. Students had to do a report on the trooper they shadowed.
Criminal Justice II students worked hard to become BLS certified. In the first week of school the students learned basic first aid and CPR/AED training. Congratulations to these young men and women.
